There were so many school kids out and about at the museums. I have been surprised at how many school aged kids we have seen around Europe. I guess their schedules are different than ours for their schooling.
I think I should mention that a certain part of my back keeps falling asleep. As in it gets really tingly. I can be standing or sitting or straining or relaxing. Its quite concerning so if you have any ideas of what that could mean just let me know maybe.
Anyway, we went to the Neues Museum first and got to see the bust of Nefratiti. I may sound really stupid here but I have never heard of this woman and I am certain that we didn't learn about her in school. Maybe I skipped that day. Wink Wink mom and dad. The Egyptian artifacts, architecture and jewelry were pretty cool. It was sort of like flipping through a magazine and only looking at the pictures. Although I will say that it was a welcome break from the World War II tour we have been on.
The Pergamon was the next location and it was a museum of architecture and old stuff. I realize I have sounded very educated in these last few posts so try not to be too impressed. I am a world traveller now and with that comes great knowledge of stuff. Are you guys proud of me or what?
I guess I would recommend going to these museums if you are in town. But what I would really recommend is getting to know the people. I have severely missed out on the culture in these last few places but it is sort of hard to find for a tourist. You can't just google that. I think since Berlin was such a big area, it was hard to know what places we should visit to fit in with the locals and see how they live. Plus, I think I am the only one on the trip who learns a city through its people.
We went to the market near the apartment to grab dinner. I made eggs which were sort of orange and then bought bread and some spread which didn't turn out to be what I thought it was. And an avacado. Don't forget that. The meal wasn't great but what the hell. It was food.
Remember that we already bought that pub crawl ticket and we didn't go last night, so we had to go tonight! We made it to the meeting point and got our wristbands and then headed to the first bar which I SWEAR the lady said was called Silver Fish. Like ew. It was actually called Silber Fisch which isn't much better but is much less slimy. We got a welcome shot and then ordered 2 doubles of tequila. WAHOO! Let me ask you guys a question: did you know that when you do tequila gold you are supposed to do cinnamon, shot, orange instead of salt, shot, lime? I did not. Probably in part because I don't drink tequila gold. The waitress was really cool. She was from Berlin but her mother was from Texas so she had this cool accent mix going for her. We left for the next bar nd made some friends on the way! Rupert from South Africa was very nice and said that we barely had accents, which I LOVED. At the next bar we got welcome shots too and sat in these awesome egg swing chairs. That was a really great description I know, but you know what I am talking about don't you?? That's what I thought. We met 2 Canadians, a couple from Nevada and some Bulgarians from New York. We are really good at making friends. The next place was a club and it was my kind of place. I love dancing you know. There were our welcome shots again and then I snuck to the water closet with Katelyn and guess what we found?? A "KD loves Berlin" wall decoration!! Tacky as shit but still a little AOT from the other side of the ocean. Here we met some Aussies and hung out with them until we went to the last bar on the trip. It was so weird. There were bones and skulls everywhere and then the hand rail was a giant penis. I don't know at theme they were going for but I guess they nailed it? The gals and I left from here because the club didn't need us on a Tuesday night.
